International Cat Day & Cat Facts

What a day for the nations to come together. And what could bond nations at war, distrusting and unknown to reach other than a love of feline critters – It’s International Cat Day! Miaow.

Cats. Love them or hate them, it’s a great excuse to go on Can I Haz Cheeseburger or to Google funny pictures of them at work. Hey, if you have one, bring it in. Send your boss our way, we can take it.

So- fun cat facts. Let’s go!

1. The oldest cat lived to 36, with two contenders making it to 35 and 34!
2. Cats can rotate their ears 180 degrees! Humans can attempt… But usually fail.
3. Cats can make over a 100 sounds! Humans have around 50 basic sounds, but the amount fo sounds we can make is unknown due to the different ways each language pronounces words.
4. It is estimated that cats spend over 30% of their lives grooming. Women are reported to spend over 330 days of their life on make up and hair!
5. As of 1997, a cat that ‘worked’ for a distillery called Towser held the record for most mice/rats killed at an impressive 28,899- but who’s counting.
