Iron Maiden - Fun Trivia

Published by Elaine Arthur on 7 August 2012

Happy Birthday Bruce Dickinson!!

Who? Well, The Wikipedia entry for Paul Bruce Dickinson states that he is " a singer, pilot, fencer, broadcaster, author, screenwriter, actor and former marketing director…" however you and I will know him as the lead signer of Iron Maiden!

What a career here are some interesting Iron Maiden Facts:

1. The album The Number of The Beast led to Iron Maiden being branded Satanists, despite Nicko being a born again Christian. Many Christians burnt and battered copies of albums to destroy them. Another time, their Boeing plane had to be stripped of Iron Maiden logos after a stop in Africa on a commercial flight, as many passengers are said to have feared it was haunted by evil spirits!

2. Their icon is the cartoon character Eddie, one of the most recognisable figures in metal, who is seen on album covers as well as in the band’s shoot em up game.

3. The name Iron Maiden is from the impaling coffin as seen in the film The Man in the Iron Mask. There are debates as to whether this painful looking device was ever used.

4. The band have sold more than 100 million albums all over the world despite their less than high profile features on radio or TV.

5. They have released 35 albums in their career to date!
