The Stone Roses

Published by Ross Williams on 13 June 2012

Stone Roses fans can breathe a sigh of relief after the band’s management confirmed that the rest of their summer tour will go ahead as planned.

The biggest comeback since Lazarus threatened derailment this week after an altercation between lead singer Ian Brown and drummer Alan ‘Reni’ Wren in Amsterdam. The band are currently on a short run of European club shows ahead of their mammoth homecoming gigs at Heaton Park (29/30 June & 1 July) and tensions flared after Reni allegedly refused to play the band’s iconic single ‘I Am The Resurrection’ in an encore.

Echoes of their ill fated final appearance at Reading Festival 17 years ago when the Roses imploded were very much evident but the lads seem to have patched up their differences and look set to take to the stage in Manchester for one of the most anticipated comebacks in music history.

Over 200,000 Roses devotees will descend on Heaton Park over 3 days – most of which are expected to be 30-40 something’s worshipping at the altar of the band that sound tracked their lives in the early 90’s. The remainder will be a younger audience, like myself, too young for them the first time around but sent back in time to discover their genius via the crop of bands that they inspired such as Oasis, Doves, Shed Seven, Blur – the list is endless.

If you weren’t lucky enough to bag a ticket for any of the summers mega gigs you can console yourself with our fantastic range of Stone Roses posters and Stone Roses prints which feature a range of band shots and also the iconic artwork for singles such as Fool’s Gold, I Wanna Be Adored and She Bangs The Drums.
