The best way to preserve and protect your poster is with a frame. As poster frames come in many different sizes, you will need to ensure you use the right one.

What are the standard sizes of poster frames?
When deciding on a poster frame, you will need to know what size poster you have, as modern poster frames are categorised by the poster they fit.
While posters come in a wide range of sizes, in this section we look at the most common types:
- Mini
- Maxi
- Alternative frame sizes
Note: The sizes stated on GB posters is the internal sizes, meaning that the size shown is the print/poster size that fits perfectly inside the frame. For example, if you purchase a 40x50 poster/print, you can simply buy the 40x50 size frame.
Mini posters
Small and elegant with a size of 40 cm x 50 cm. Mini posters take up just a fraction of wall space, which is perfect if you’re wanting to hang a number of frames or you simply don’t want to lose a large part of your wall to a poster.

Maxi posters
Maxi posters are the most common (and popular) type of poster. If you’ve ever purchased a poster, it will likely have been maxi sized. They measure 61 cm x 91.5 cm, which means they take up a reasonable amount of wall space.
Although they are similar to standard movie poster size, they suit most other categories, like music, gaming or sport.

Alternative frame sizes
GB Posters also stocks frames in other non-standard sizes. These frames aren’t used for posters but more likely images (prints), certificates and vinyl covers. These sizes include:

Frame shapes
Standard posters are rectangular and designed to be in the portrait position. However, other frames are available depending on your needs.
Portrait or landscape
All frames from GB Posters can be hung either in portrait or landscape, and have two hooking mechanisms attached to the back—one for each position.
Although some of our posters are landscape, their measurements are still matched as one of the three standards:
- Mini
- Maxi
- Giant (no frames available)
Panoramic
Because of their width, panoramic images require a much wider frame. GB Posters stocks a variety of 33 cm x 95cm panoramic print frames, in a huge range of finishes.

Glass
Every frame uses a shatterproof safety styrene to protect your artwork. Unlike glass, styrene is non-reflective so you can see your poster at all times of day. Styrene also contains a UV stabiliser—this absorbs the ultraviolet rays in sunlight which can cause artwork to fade.
