Iron Man

A founding member of the Avengers, Iron Man has become a hugely successful character from Marvel, perhaps owing a lot to Robert Downey Jr.’s brilliant performances as the self-indulgent playboy. Created when Stark, as owner of the weapons manufacturer Stark Industries, suffered severe injuries to his chest in an attempted kidnapping. In a bid to save his life and escape, he creates an armoured suit, and so hence becomes Iron Man. After his escape, Stark ceases to develop weapons of destruction and uses Iron Man to defend and protect the world.
