The 1999 film is based on a novel of the same name by Chuck Palahniuk. It follows a nameless character and narrator (Edward Norton) who is bored with his white colour job and also suffers from insomnia but is refused medication by his doctor. He begins going to support groups for problems he doesn't even have, finding that this offers him some sanctity from his life. On a flight home from a business trip he befriends a man called Tyler Durden (Brad Pitt). When he finds his flat burnt down he calls Tyler to stay at his place. He meets at a bar where Tyler asks him to hit him as hard as he can. They engage in a fist fight and a few other men gather round to watch. Soon they start fighting under the bar, and Fight Club is bor. Without realising it Tyler soon begins to control the narrator's life and Fight Club slowly grows out of control, becoming more public and organising crimes. Helena Bonham Carter won the 2000 Empire Award for Best British Actress .The Online Film Critics Society also nominated Fight Club for Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor (Edward Norton), Best Editing, and Best Adapted Screenplay. Though the film won none of the awards, the organization listed Fight Club as one of the top ten films of 1999.The soundtrack was nominated for a BRIT Award.
